We are seeking an experienced and passionate IBDP Physics Teacher to join our science department. The successful candidate will deliver outstanding IB Physics instruction, inspire scientific inquiry, and prepare students for IB examinations while also serving as Head of Science Department (as noted in the posting).
Teaching & Learning:
Teach IBDP Physics at Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL)
Deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with IB philosophy
Prepare students for IB Physics internal assessments and external examinations
Conduct laboratory experiments and investigations with emphasis on safety
Guide students in completing Internal Assessments (IA) and Extended Essays in Physics
Integrate Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Approaches to Learning (ATL) into teaching
Utilize technology and simulations to enhance conceptual understanding
Laboratory Management:
Plan and supervise hands-on laboratory activities
Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols
Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and supplies
Develop students' practical skills and scientific methodology
Supervise Group 4 Project and interdisciplinary collaborations
Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals and equipment
Assessment & Evaluation:
Design formative and summative assessments aligned with IB criteria
Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work
Monitor and track student progress toward IB achievement
Prepare students for IB examinations with proven success strategies
Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance
Moderate internal assessments according to IB standards
Department Leadership (Head of Science):
Lead and mentor science department faculty
Coordinate curriculum planning and assessment across science subjects
Conduct lesson observations and provide constructive feedback
Support teacher professional development and growth
Manage departmental budget and resources
Lead departmental meetings and initiatives
Ensure consistency and quality across science programmes
Collaborate with other department heads and school leadership
Student Support:
Mentor students in scientific research and investigation
Support CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) projects related to science
Guide students in university applications for STEM programmes
Provide additional support for students requiring assistance
Encourage participation in science competitions and Olympiads
Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment
Professional Collaboration:
Participate in IB departmental meetings and workshops
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary units
Engage in IB professional development and training
Contribute to school improvement initiatives
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress
Represent the school at science events and competitions
IB-Specific Duties:
Attend IB workshops and training sessions
Stay current with IB curriculum updates and best practices
Participate in IB moderation and standardization processes
Contribute to programme evaluation and development
Ensure compliance with IB standards and requirements
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in Physics, Physics Education, or related field
Valid teaching certification/license from home country
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in international schools
Minimum 2-3 years in middle leadership role (Head of Department or similar)
Extensive experience teaching IBDP Physics (HL and SL)
Strong knowledge of IB curriculum, assessment, and philosophy
Experience with laboratory instruction and safety management
Proven track record of excellent student results in IB Physics
Excellent English communication skills (native or near-native)
Commitment to IB learner profile and international-mindedness
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Master's degree in Physics, Science Education, or related field
IB Category 2 or 3 training certification in Physics
Experience as an IB examiner or workshop leader
Experience in Chinese or Asian international schools
Familiarity with bilingual education
Proficiency in educational technology and laboratory software
Experience with curriculum development and programme evaluation

Salary: 30,000 - 40,000 RMB/month (competitive, based on qualifications)
