We are seeking a passionate and creative Visual Arts Teacher to join our dynamic arts department. The successful candidate will teach Visual Arts across IGCSE and IBDP levels, inspiring students to develop their artistic skills, creative thinking, and cultural awareness while preparing them for IB and Cambridge examinations.
Teaching & Learning:
Teach IGCSE Art & Design to Grades 9-10
Teach IBDP Visual Arts at Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) to Grades 11-12
Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that fosters creativity and technical skills
Guide students in developing portfolios for IB assessment and university applications
Prepare students for IGCSE and IBDP Visual Arts examinations
Integrate art history, theory, and contemporary practices into curriculum
Facilitate studio work across various media (drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, photography, etc.)
IB-Specific Duties:
Guide students through the IB Visual Arts assessment components (Comparative Study, Process Portfolio, Exhibition)
Support students in developing curatorial rationales and exhibition displays
Ensure compliance with IB assessment criteria and academic honesty
Attend IB workshops and professional development
Stay current with IB curriculum updates and best practices
Studio Management:
Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring studio environment
Manage art supplies, equipment, and materials
Ensure proper use and care of art tools and technology
Supervise students in the use of specialized equipment (kilns, printmaking presses, etc.)
Implement and enforce studio safety protocols
Student Support:
Mentor students in portfolio development for art school applications
Provide individualized feedback and guidance
Encourage participation in art competitions and exhibitions
Support students in developing their artistic voice and conceptual thinking
Organize student art exhibitions and showcases
Facilitate visits to galleries, museums, and cultural sites
Curriculum Development:
Develop scheme of work aligned with IGCSE and IBDP standards
Create engaging lesson plans and assessment tasks
Integrate cross-curricular connections and contemporary issues
Incorporate technology and digital media into art instruction
Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement
Professional Collaboration:
Participate in departmental meetings and school events
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects
Engage in professional development opportunities
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress
Contribute to school exhibitions and cultural events
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or related field
Valid teaching certification/license from home country
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in international schools
Experience teaching IBDP Visual Arts and/or IGCSE Art & Design
Strong portfolio of personal artistic work
Proficiency in various art media and techniques
Knowledge of IB assessment criteria and requirements
Excellent English communication skills (native or near-native)
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Passion for art education and student development
Preferred:
Master's degree in Fine Arts or Art Education
IB Category 1, 2, or 3 training in Visual Arts
Experience as an IB examiner or workshop leader
Proficiency in digital art tools and software (Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
Experience with photography, printmaking, or 3D design
Familiarity with Chinese culture and educational context
Experience organizing exhibitions and art events
