Position Overview

We are seeking a caring and experienced Primary Homeroom Teacher to join our elementary division. The successful candidate will create a nurturing, stimulating learning environment, deliver high-quality instruction with emphasis on English language development, and support the holistic development of primary students.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Teaching:

  • Serve as homeroom teacher for a primary grade level

  • Teach core subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction aligned with curriculum standards

  • Integrate IGCSE foundations and international best practices

  • Foster English language development across the curriculum

  • Use inquiry-based, student-centered teaching approaches

  • Incorporate technology and digital tools into learning

English Language Instruction:

  • Provide explicit English language instruction

  • Support English language learners (ELL/ESL students)

  • Develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills

  • Create language-rich classroom environment

  • Integrate English across all subject areas

  • Monitor and support language acquisition progress

Student Welfare & Pastoral Care:

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom community

  • Support students' social and emotional development

  • Implement effective classroom management strategies

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students

  • Address individual student needs and learning differences

  • Promote positive behavior and character development

  • Support students' wellbeing and mental health

Assessment & Reporting:

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments

  • Monitor and track student progress and achievement

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students

  • Maintain accurate records of student performance

  • Prepare reports and communicate with parents

  • Use data to inform instruction and intervention

Curriculum Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive unit and lesson plans

  • Align instruction with curriculum standards and learning objectives

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs

  • Integrate cross-curricular connections

  • Create engaging learning experiences and activities

  • Adapt curriculum based on student needs and interests

Parent Communication:

  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians

  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences

  • Provide updates on student progress and achievements

  • Address parent concerns and questions promptly

  • Build positive partnerships with families

  • Involve parents in classroom activities and school life

Professional Collaboration:

  • Participate in grade-level team meetings and planning

  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and instruction

  • Work with learning support staff for students with additional needs

  • Participate in school events, assemblies, and activities

  • Engage in professional development and training

  • Contribute to school improvement initiatives

Classroom Management:

  • Establish clear expectations, routines, and procedures

  • Create organized, resource-rich learning environment

  • Manage classroom time effectively

  • Ensure classroom safety and cleanliness

  • Maintain inventory of classroom materials and supplies

  • Display student work and celebrate achievements

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Education, or related field

  • Valid teaching certification/license from home country (e.g., QTS, State License)

  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in primary/elementary schools

  • Experience with international curriculum (IGCSE, IPC, or similar)

  • Strong English language skills (native or near-native proficiency)

  • Experience with English language learners (ELL/ESL)

  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to student-centered learning and holistic development

  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young learners

  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Education or related field

  • Experience in international schools, particularly in China/Asia

  • TEFL/TESOL certification or ELL specialization

  • Experience with IGCSE or Cambridge Primary curriculum

  • Familiarity with inquiry-based learning approaches (PYP, Reggio Emilia, etc.)

  • Proficiency in educational technology (Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.)

  • Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices

  • Knowledge of child development and learning theories

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: 30,000 - 35,000 RMB/month (before tax)
