Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate A-Level Mathematics Teacher to join our international department. The successful candidate will deliver outstanding Cambridge International A-Level Mathematics instruction, inspire students to achieve mathematical excellence, and prepare them for success in university mathematics and related fields.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning:

  • Teach Cambridge International A-Level Mathematics to senior students

  • Deliver engaging lessons in Pure Mathematics, Mechanics, and/or Statistics

  • Prepare students for Cambridge A-Level Mathematics examinations

  • Foster analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning

  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies and educational technology

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs

  • Connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications

Assessment & Examination Preparation:

  • Design formative and summative assessments aligned with Cambridge standards

  • Prepare students for A-Level examinations with focus on achieving top grades

  • Conduct mock examinations and provide targeted intervention

  • Monitor and track student progress using data analysis

  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement

  • Provide detailed feedback on assignments and examinations

  • Support students with examination techniques and time management

Student Support:

  • Mentor students in developing mathematical skills and confidence

  • Provide additional support for students requiring extra help

  • Challenge high-achieving students with extension activities

  • Guide students in university applications for mathematics-related courses

  • Encourage participation in mathematics competitions

  • Foster a growth mindset and resilience in mathematics

  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment

Curriculum Development:

  • Develop comprehensive scheme of work and lesson plans

  • Create engaging teaching resources and materials

  • Integrate technology (graphing calculators, mathematical software, online platforms)

  • Stay current with Cambridge curriculum updates and best practices

  • Contribute to departmental curriculum review and enhancement

  • Promote cross-curricular connections with sciences and other subjects

Professional Collaboration:

  • Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative planning

  • Work with colleagues to share best practices

  • Engage in professional development opportunities

  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress

  • Contribute to school events and open days

  • Collaborate with Chinese and international staff

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field

  • Valid teaching certification/license from home country

  • Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in international schools

  • Proven experience teaching Cambridge International A-Level Mathematics

  • Strong knowledge of A-Level Mathematics curriculum (Pure, Mechanics, Statistics)

  • Track record of excellent student results in A-Level examinations

  • Excellent English communication skills (native or near-native)

  • Outstanding classroom management and organizational skills

  • Passion for mathematics education and student achievement

  • Proficiency in educational technology and mathematical software

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching A-Level Further Mathematics

  • Experience as an A-Level examiner or marker

  • Familiarity with Asian educational context and Chinese culture

  • Experience with Australian QCE curriculum (advantageous)

  • Knowledge of additional mathematics curricula (IB, AP)

  • Proficiency in programming or computational mathematics

  • Experience with differentiated instruction for diverse learners

  • Basic Mandarin Chinese skills (helpful but not required)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: 25,000 - 27,000 RMB/month (after tax - excellent net salary)
