Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate IBDP Biology Teacher to join our science department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality IB Biology instruction to senior students, inspire scientific inquiry, and prepare students for IB examinations while fostering a love for biological sciences.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning:

• Teach IB Diploma Programme Biology at Higher Level (HL) and/or Standard Level (SL)

• Deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with IB philosophy and curriculum

• Prepare students for IB Biology internal assessments and external examinations

• Facilitate laboratory experiments and investigations with emphasis on safety

• Guide students in completing Internal Assessments (IA) and Extended Essays in Biology

• Integrate Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Approaches to Learning (ATL) into teaching

Assessment & Evaluation:

• Design formative and summative assessments aligned with IB criteria

• Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work

• Monitor and track student progress toward IB achievement

• Prepare students for IB examinations with proven success strategies

• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance

Laboratory Management:

• Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments and demonstrations

• Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols

• Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and supplies

• Develop students' practical skills and scientific methodology

• Supervise Group 4 Project and interdisciplinary collaborations

Student Support:

• Mentor students in scientific research and investigation

• Support CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) projects related to biology

• Guide students in university applications for science programs

• Provide additional support for students requiring assistance

• Encourage participation in science competitions and Olympiads

Professional Collaboration:

• Participate in IB departmental meetings and workshops

• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary units

• Engage in IB professional development and training

• Contribute to school improvement initiatives

• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress

IB-Specific Duties:

• Attend IB workshops and training sessions

• Stay current with IB curriculum updates and best practices

• Participate in IB moderation and standardization processes

• Contribute to programme evaluation and development

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or related field

• Valid teaching certification/license from home country

• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in IB schools

• Experience teaching IBDP Biology (HL and/or SL)

• Strong knowledge of IB curriculum, assessment, and philosophy

• Experience with laboratory instruction and safety management

• Excellent English communication skills (native or near-native)

• Commitment to IB learner profile and international-mindedness

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills

Preferred:

• Master's degree in Biology, Science Education, or related field

• IB Category 1, 2, or 3 training certification

• Experience as an IB examiner or workshop leader

• Familiarity with Asian educational context

• Experience with bilingual education

• Proficiency in educational technology and digital tools

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: 20,000 - 25,000 RMB/month (after tax - very competitive net salary)
